Mit der Gegenreformation hielten Pracht und Prunk in der Liturgie Einzug. Die seit dem Mittelalter vor allem in Süddeutschland und den Alpenländern praktizierte Jesuskindverehrung wurde nun öffentlich. Bekannte Christkindfiguren hielten als Kopien nicht nur in den Kirchen, sondern auch im bürgerlichen und bäuerlichen Bereich Einzug, meist als "Christkind" zu Weihnachten. Auch das Krippenwesen erlebte ab Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts enormen Aufschwung. Die Ausstellung zeigt zahlreiche Gegenstände, die die verschiedenen Facetten der barocken Frömmigkeit veranschaulichen: Wallfahrtsjesulein, bäuerliche Fatschenkinder, Wiegen- und Schachtelkindl, Reliquien-, Votiv- und Andachtsbilder sowie Krippen. Ebenso ist das Thema der "geistlichen Hausapotheke" mit barocken Heilmitteln wie Phylakterien (geweihte Gegenstände, die als Schutzmittel galten), Rosenkränzen, Gebetbuchbildchen, Stoffreliquien und Amuletten in dieser Präsentation vertreten.
