It tells of Lorraine's terrifying time when mental illness returned with a vengeance, Married with three children, the illness returned without warning no one could convince her that the voices in her head and her thought delusions wasn't real. Her life became a living nightmare her paranoia was so great that she was convinced people could see into her mind and read her every thought. She had numerous breakdowns which led to hospital admissions. In between the breakdowns she was filled with an unbearable depression and lived in fear of becoming ill again. Her day to day life was one of anxiety and dread. Despite this Lorraine and her husband Pete tried their best to cope with running a home and bringing up their three daughters. Ladybird Ladybird fly away home is a vivid account of those years giving a true insight into how it feels to suffer with serious mental health problems. She is now in her early fifties and although she is maintained on tablets has been reasonably well for eight years.
