About
In this, Barbara Wilson's fourth novel, she takes as her subject the ending of a ten-year relationship between two women. Bet and Nora, both in their thirties and co-owners of a successful futon shop in Seattle, have just broken up as the book opens. The narrative follows Bet on her journey toward grief--a journey which includes moments of rollicking humor and sizzling sexuality, as the huge dimensions of her loss gradually unfold. In exploring issues such as butch/femme roles, monogamy and non-monogamy, and the rocky road to sexual awakening, Wilson gives us scenes that are sometimes troubling, sometimes funny, but always achingly familiar.
