About
This is the story of a quiet little town nestled at the end of a canyon in the towering San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado. Like many Colorado communities, Telluride began life as a wide-open mining town. But it did not fade into a collection of weathered boards and mine tailings. Today's Telluride is very much alive. But the people who flock to the area aren't hunting for gold or silver. A community effort in the 1960s turned the town into one of the premier ski resorts in America. Dick and Suzy Fetter have compiled a highly readable account of Telluride's rough and tumble beginnings. They have enhanced it with a fine collection of photographs, many of which have never before been published. The book also provides information for a detailed walking tour of the town.
