About
I didn't know what I was getting when I first ordered this book. However, it isn't just about all things ghosts and witchcraft, which it is, but it also explores other areas such as how we grow up and the influences on our lives, both good and bad. It is a positive, upbeat book when talking about that "No-No" subject of death. Death isn't the final word for any of us and there are other options open to us when we pass. Another thing I was surprised about was the very accurate descriptions given to life experiences of one of the ghosts in Edwardian Norfolk. Another ghost, Arthur, also relates in detail his life as a doctor but also a Captain in World War 1 which seemed very poignant and realistic. The areas covering sex appeared to be a juxtaposition created by the author to further define the differences between the perceptions of the living and the dead. They also showed the 'coming-of-age' experiences of one of the main living characters. The chapter on the paranormal investigators was, I thought, hilarious! Over-all it is an amazing book which makes me want to re-read it again as I keep finding myself churning over some of it's revelations. These have become little gold-nuggets of thoughts which have gotten me thinking a lot more about why we are here and what our real purpose is. I hope that it won't be too long before the second instalment of this trilogy is brought out because, although this is a complete adventure in itself I am eagerly anticipating where the author is going to go next!
