About
The book's idea is to give a critical (and loving) look at the current urban development in Danish cities - large and small - and at the same time prepare for a broader debate about urban development and its consequences for the individual and for society. Many new urban areas are rightly criticized for being monotonous and for being primarily built for middle-class standard families. In addition, there is criticism of the lack of sustainability and too strong separation of urban functions - housing, jobs, shops, public institutions, sports facilities and urban nature. And this is happening despite the proud Danish traditions of good urban planning and many skilled architects and other professionals. The authors point out in the book that there are many opportunities to work with a more quality, more functional and more socially diverse urban development. Does it require new (collaboration) forms of cooperation in the municipalities, with consultants and builders? and the involvement of several actors. Adjustments to the legislation are also called for. Last but not least, the book is carried by a belief that a broader and more entrenched popular debate can contribute to better cities in the future Bogens idé er at give et kritisk (og kærligt) blik på den aktuelle byudvikling i danske byer - store som små - og samtidig lægge op til en bredere debat om byudviklingen og dens konsekvenser for den enkelte og for samfundet.
