"Designed to provide access to web sites of and brief descriptive information about the major agencies of the United States Federal Government. The selection of agencies for inclusion roughly follows those listed in The United States Governments Manual, including subagencies of Executive Branch Departments down to the Bureau level, and all agencies classified as 'Independent Establishments and Government Corporations' or 'Quasi-Official Agencies'. Also included are the standing committees of both legislative bodies of the Congress and selected 'Information Clearinghouses' (not included in the Government Manual), which are significant information 'portals' established by an agency or multi-agency cooperative effort."
