About
Johnny: Patron Saint of the Traveler is a story about a man in his mid-twenties that is looking to break the monotony of the life he dreamed of as a child, working with art. Johnny holds a job as a curator for a small museum in New York City, lives alone, owes creditors money (though he has the money to pay his bills), and often fantasizes about the women he wants. Breaking the tedious lifestyle that Johnny followed was the entrance of two women into his life; Samantha, a woman that seems to be Hell-bent on destroying Johnny’s life, and Suzanne, a local deli worker that catches Johnny’s eye each day as he walks to work. Each woman is of completely separate personalities, and each woman is highly influential in the way that Johnny acts. As of yet, Johnny has not found the closure and reassurance he needs in life. Tragedies have filled his childhood and monotony fills his mid-twenties. Johnny works as a curator at an art museum and spends much of his time photographing others, smoking, and drinking. His only relationship in the city is with Samantha, a recovering addict, who tends to make his days stressful. He has found no other interests in NYC until he meets Suzanne, a deli worker with a youthful heart. His days have changed for the better. He becomes what he hates. He changes everything in his life, though he changes nothing, always on the run from his past, always on the move. The only thing he has owned most of his life is his St. Christopher medallion, the Patron Saint of travelers, the Patron Saint of Johnny.
