About
Visual artist Nina Sten-Knudsen has written a very personal history of art, which shines with both knowledge and an infectious joy in art. She herself calls it an essay, and it is based on her own artistic practice and is at the same time a well-planned journey of discovery in world art, full of joys and surprises along the way, as she traces and scrutinizes her sources of inspiration and finds new patterns and explanations. The book is richly illustrated. Nina Sten-Knudsen (b. 1957), visual artist. Graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. She began her artistic career at the end of the 1970s and belongs to the generation of young artists known as De Unge Vilde. She examines the really big questions; questions about our existence, about evil, about past and present. In particular, she explores the potential and justification of painting in our modern world - this in periods where painting has been declared dead and uninteresting again and again Billedkunstneren Nina Sten-Knudsen har skrevet en meget personlig kunsthistorie, der lyser af både viden og en smittende glæde ved kunsten.
