About
The artist Richard Wientzek (*1970) is known for his pithy depiction of the cultural landscape arranged by human beings. For some time, however, he has shifted the focus of his work to drawing and the still life. He depicts the objects?one time conventional everyday objects, one time wondrous found pieces?on a scale of 1:1 with colored pencil, drawing ink, and paper. In Wientzek?s work, objects with different origins, cultural icons, products, and book or song titles come together. Despite all the archeological precision, his cabinet pieces therefore develop a highly poetic, narrative quality. The new publication brings together his complete graphic works from 2010 to 2017 and carries the reader away into Wientzek?s ironic visual cosmos.
