Contained in this dataset are the raw and percentagized returns for the election of new members to the Portuguese Constituent Assembly on April 23, 1975, and for the election of members to the Portuguese National Assembly on April 25, 1976. The variables for each election include the number of registered voters, voter turnout, and the raw totals and percentages of votes received by each of seventeen political parties. The data were originally collected and published by the Technical Secretariat, they were converted to machine-readable form by the staff of ICPSR. The machine-readable file has been compared with the original published volume and checked for consistency.
