Blood Will Out

While investigating an apparent suicide, Detective Inspector Ed Moretti and his partner, Detective Sergeant Liz Falla, have to deal with what seems to be an outbreak of vampirism, possibly provoked by a visiting playwright, Hugo Shawcross, who is writing a play about vampires for The Island Players, a local group, and who is himself the first victim, narrowly escaping with his life. As the investigation unfolds, links begin to emerge between the hermit's death, the play in progress, and the tangled lives of one of the island s most prestigious families, the Gastineaus, who are caught up in a web of past secrets and betrayals that have come back to haunt them. With the dubious help of island witches, and the distraction of his partner's seductive aunt Elodie, Ed Moretti will need all his deductive skills to see past the false clues about vampirism and the living dead laid out for him, to the true reasons for crimes driven by powerful forces sex, love, and obsession with roots deep in the past.
