About
Optical model of Ball Lightning (BL) based on ten papers published in International scientific physical journals in last ten years is presented. Ball Lightning is the conventional self-confined white light of the linear lightning. That is why BL disappears without trace and its properties differ essentially from that of all known objects. Unlike known material objects, BL can penetrate through window panes and catch up flying aircrafts. Puzzles and intriguing properties of BL are presented and explained. Results of two-century attempts to produce BL in a laboratory are analyzed. The theory of the self-confined light is presented. It is shown that contemporary knowledge is sufficient to explain an existence of the self-confined light. BL can be considered as an optical spherical incoherent space soliton particular case of a wide circle of phenomena where optically induced forces manifest themselves.
The book is intended for a wide range of readers familiar with the course of physics at the high school level.
