Agapanthus is a genus of herbaceous perennials that mostly bloom in summer.
The leaves are basal and curved, linear, and up to 24 in long.
They are arranged in two rows.
The inflorescence is a pseudo umbel subtended by two large bracts at the apex of a long up to 6.6 ft tall.
They have funnel shaped flowers, in hues of blue to purple, shading to white.
Caring for an Agapanthus plant is easy in warmer regions.
Once planted, this beautiful plant requires very little upkeep.
To maintain health and performance, divide the plant once every three years.
Be sure to get as much of the root as possible when dividing and only divide after the plant has bloomed.
In colder winter regions, Lily of the Nile plants should be grown in containers to allow them to be brought indoors for the winter.
