Edendale
by Agnes M. Thwaites, Edendale Book Committee
About
" ... A history of this small rural Southland town and area. The township began to form when the railway reached Edendale in 1975 and the landscape has subsequently changed from an infenced wilderness of swamps, flax, rushes and scrubby growth to one of tidy fenced fields and shelter trees, houses and farm buildings. Since the establishment of the first dairy factory in 1882 the town has relied heavily on dairying as a source of employment. Today Edendale is the oldest manufacturing site in New Zealand." -- Back cover.
