About
The Basic premise of this book is that off the shelf Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are not able to handle the planning and scheduling needs of a pure make-to-order manufacturer or a mixed mode manufacturer with some make-to-order requirements. The fact that some ERP vendors have added Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) modules to their offerings is considered and discussed in some detail. The book is essentially divided into two parts: - Part 1 talks about the generic problems with ERP systems, which will help the reader understand the critical need for good scheduling and planning. - Part 2 then goes about explaining, in some detail, exactly how companies can get from where they are today to where they need to be.
