The President's Cookbook, Practical Recipes from George Washington to the Present

This book attempts to chronicle the lives of the Presidents and their families in the White House (and previous locales), with emphasis on the food and beverages they both ate and served. The "Present" of this book ends with Nixon since it was published in 1968. It is often a humorous look at the various whims and likes/dislikes of the various First Families, while providing a glimpse of the trends of the different eras.
