Little Gentlemen

This a a book that recalls Randall Park sports games played back in the late 1960's with numerous TV and Film Stars when they were teenagers. The people in the novel were friends and acquaintences. The author humourously recalls what it was like to play with each of them. Jack says "Many stars will deliberately not recall being on Long Island since they have since changed their dates of birth for acting purposes." The book doesn't specify any exact dates in order to preserve this personal information. Futhermore, the author spent 30 years as a Nuclear technical writer/auditor. Pitt has written another novel, plus a dozen screenplays as part of his side hobby. This was Mr. Pitt's first experimental publication. All other works have been published under an unknown penn name. Pitt's a highly talented comedy writer. Eddy Murphy has stated that Pitski was "the funniest boy he knew when he was a teenager and gyn class buddy." Note: Both Seinfeld and Murphy attended Freeport High briefly when it was a new High School but graduated from another High School on Long Island. Neither actors lived full time in Freeport, LI, New York. The novel did not make that clear. They chose to do their last year in Freeport Hight but lived in nearby towns. The old Mister Pitt identified in several sixth season Sienfeld shows was Jack's Dad, who had sensitive feet from being frozen in WWII in Casino, Italy. The US lost 5000 lives trying to climb the mountain across the river from Casino and somehow Mister Pitt made it to the top and stuck the flag in just as the US airplanes flew over to take the famous picture now kept in Washington DC. Rain stopped and the US planes bombed the city. The Germans stopped shelling the mountain. A frost blew in that night and mud slid over Pitt as he slept, freezing his body. In the morning two fellow MP's went up and got their buddy down but he was frozen. On the boat taking him across the river, they were about to toss him overboard when Merve Griffin (Entertainer and Soldier) who had fought with Pitt the week before in and about the city, recognized him. Using a mirror he proved Pitt was still alive. They put Pitt into several warm baths and thawed him out but had to cut away some of sock material on his feet which in later years made his feet sensitive to all but wool socks. Only five (5) men were recorded having been frozen and thawed out in WWII with out losing a leg, arm or pinky. It was learned later that Merve Griffin, the TV celebrity, had to fight a dozen officers to keep them from tossing Pitt overboard with the other dead men taken off the mountain. A Captain said that "any man who could take that much of a beating should be listened to." Pitt was taken to a Carolina hospital and released six months later in Atlantic City with buddy Merve Griffin. Pitt,Sr. was a sharpshooter and MP who told his army doctor, located in Philadelphia, that Griffin killed six Germans that had him pinned down and that he owed him his life, not once, but twice. Jack Pitt was also known as Jake Pitt, a nickname given to him by fellow textile salesman turned actor/comedian Don Rickles. Seinfeld loved Mister Pitt's sense of humor and so put him in several comedy shows. Pitt's wife, Betty Adlam, won an art scholarship to Philadelphia Art School. Frank Sinatra gave her pep talks that helped her to win the gymnastic competition, always saying to her "that if he can get a big Band Contract, she can get her dream scholarship." Frank nicked named her "Betty, the Artist" and introduced Jack , then a Philidelphia Textile Student, to her at a local concert. When asked how he made it to the top of the mountain, Pitt sid it wasn't his army training bit his Marine training that made him think of how to advance under fire up the hillside from shell hole to shell hole. One of the men who resued Pitt later lost a leg in the war but became a doctor and did well in life. This fact upset Mister Pitt who then gave much money to veterans organizations. Pitt was born on Vetertans Day. He passed away in his sleep in 2010 in a Veterans hospital, no complications. He was 84 years old and died quietly with his favorite pair of wool socks on.
