Before directing Alien 3 at just 28 years old, David Fincher (b.1962) had only cut his teeth on music videos and advertising spots. Now a key figure in contemporary American cinema, he first won international acclaim in 1995 with radically dark Seven. From The Game (1997) to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), the urban thriller dominates his work. His films often track the solitary journey of a loner or the obsessive trajectory of a man and his idea (Zodiac in 2007 and The Social Network in 2010).
