An understanding of gender issues, sexuality and sexual diversity presents a great challenge for education professionals and to other sectors of Brazilian society. Addressing these issues in schools is the opportunity to showcase the expressions of sexuality and gender plural identities that now earn legitimacy in the public sphere. Closely following this concern, this book contributes to review of rules, taboos and conventions that still perceive as controversial in school and in culture. This work is one of the few that has a perspective on human rights education, and presents texts with a reflective potential to put into question prejudices and stigmas that affect the school, the family, and religion.
