About
"Champagne is unique in having a continuous sequence of burials throughout the Iron Age and Roman periods, many of them found in ill-recorded excavations in the nineteenth century. This volume presents the results of excavations carried out by a Franco-British team between 1971 and 1981. A wealth of pottery and metal artefacts was recovered, including more than 750 pots and 143 brooches. Descriptions and catalogues of the grave-goods are augmented by a report on the human and animal bones and an assessment of the changing landscape. The text is accompanied by 172 figures, 40 plates and 84 tables."--Jacket.
