Spiritual 'Disneyland'

Disneyland: A place where you are lifted up ... hurled downwards ... turned upside down ... spun round ... confronted with the fantastic ... the impossible ... the improbable and the 'miraculous'. A place where you are taken back in time ... shown the future ... elated ... made to laugh ... made to cry ... made hot ... made cold and frequently soaked. Often, all in one day! .... Usually you leave laughing!



I got saved over thirty two years ago from a completely sin filled life. I had a very powerful conversion experience and have subsequently come to a point where I want God to have all the glory and the whole of the rest of my life....... I have always loved reading personal testimonies and discovering what God has done in the lives of others.

Over the years, many people have suggested I should write down an account of the amazing things God has chosen to do in my life. However, I always fought shy of this, because I have often been less than a model Christian at times, and any account I write must be the truth..... Since my salvation in 1979, I went through marriage break-up and big time backsliding, and subsequently my walk in places, has not been particularly God honouring....... I was made the Youth Evangelist at a large Pentecostal Church around 9 months after getting saved, because I was leading loads of young people to Jesus and seeing healings when I prayed, but eventually the twin evils of 'churchianity' and 'religiousity' got to me and I slowly wandered back into worldliness. Despite not living 'right', I never denied or lost my faith in Jesus, and continued to lead other lost souls to Him, but I was 'walking both sides of the line'........ Yet still the miracles continued, and our wonderful, faithful, loving God, true to His word, never left or forsook me.

Increasingly I felt the Spirit prompting me to write it all down ‘warts and all’. At first I said, “But Lord, how can reading about my sins encourage others to walk in the light?” - Then the Holy Spirit gently reminded me of the Bible’s account of David and Bathsheba, and I understood that David’s failings are on display alongside his incredible accomplishments. I then further understood that the Lord really was directing me to write it all down....... That was when I realised that encouraging as most amazing testimonies are, they can sometimes have the effect of making those who are struggling with various sins and problems, feel rather ‘second class’ Christians by comparison , or as if they are failing in some way.

It was at this point that I accepted that my testimony must include ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’, so that those who are stumbling or limping along the narrow way and battling various issues, may take comfort and hope from the experiences of a fellow traveller.

Salvation is a process that begins when we are born from above - [literal translation of ‘born again’] - and will continue until we are exactly like Jesus. This is God’s promise to us. We are all at varying stages in this wonderful metamorphosis, designed to ultimately make us just like Jesus ..... and no one has yet 'arrived'.

It is my earnest hope that as I recount the incredible, wonderful, thrilling things that God has done - and the stupid, ignorant, rebellious and downright sinful worldly things I sometimes did - [and occasionally still do!] - that you the reader will be encouraged, instructed, forewarned and blessed as you progress along the narrow path that leads to eternal life.



If your heart has truly invited Him in - He will never leave you or forsake you.
