Rosso, nero e Pasolini

This book proposes an interpretation of the intellectual role and the death of Pasolini based on the history of political terrorism in Italy. While there is much literature on terrorism in Italy, this study focuses on the least understood of the regions in which Pasolini spent his youth: Friuli-Venezia Giulia. In this region, World War II ended later than in any other Italian region, and the Cold War began earlier than in any other place in the world, with the Yugoslavian invasion of Trieste. Friuli saw the phenomenon of terrorism develop before any other region in Italy, and it was in this climate that Pasolini began his career as a writer--a long career that was to be continued elsewhere, and ultimately to end with his murder. Although the murder of Pasolini has never been explained fully, it can be interpreted as a politically motivated crime.
