Texas State Technical College

"Texas State Technical College (TSTC), along with its individual campuses, has transitioned through a series of names in the fifty years since the 59th Texas Legislature passed legislation creating the state's first post-secondary school focused on vocational and technical training. James Connally Air Force Base became home to the James Connally Technical Institute of Texas A&M University in 1965. Connally Tech was renamed Texas State Technical Institute (TSTI) in 1969 and separated from Texas A&M University. Finally, in 1991, the 72nd Legislature acknowledged TSTI's growth to multiple campuses and recognized the institute as a full college system with a new name, Texas State Technical College. Texas State Technical College (TSTC) is the only state-supported, two-year technical college system in Texas and one of the largest two-year residential colleges in the nation. Highly customized programs in new and emerging technologies are offered at eleven locations across Texas, to include Abilene, Breckenridge, Brownwood, Fort Bend County, Harlingen, Hutto, Ingleside, Marshall, Red Oak, Sweetwater, and Waco.
