About
The work is organized into six broad sections: Vita Nova and Rime; Dante and classical and Medieval Latin culture; Dante and French and Provencal culture; studies on The Divine Comedy; criticism of Dante; and studies on works of dubious attribution (Fiore and Detto d’Amore). Picone is considered to be one of the greatest interpreters of Dante in the last fifty years, as evidenced by the amount of illuminating songs, chants, notes and exemplary essays casting new light on Dante's work. In particular, his studies on Dantesque interculturality and the relationship with the classics (especially with Ovid), with the Medieval Latin, Provencal and ancient French and Italian cultural traditions of the Middle Ages and the twentieth century, have become a school of thought and are an essential reference point for anyone who wants to study Dante in an in-depth and methodologically updated way
