In 1980, sex, drugs, and country music rule in San Antonio. With a daddy like Bobby Sr., no one in their small Texas town expects Bobby Jr., better known as B.J., to amount to much, until Janet Blake arrives on assignment for her New York based magazine. Facing prejudice, racism, and his meddlesome Mama, Peggy Sue, she steals his heart. When B.J. let’s Janet down, his betrayal turns her revenge into the novel you are about to read. Of course, murder and a little romance are mixed in for good measure.
A Note from the Author
If you think, opposites attract, think again, sometimes Texans and those of us from the Great Lakes State mix like oil and water. In the eighties, I moved to the Texas Hill Country from Detroit, Michigan. The first thing I see is a welcome sign stating, "Ni$$er don't let the sun set on your a** in our town." On more than one occasion, I am asked to join the Ku Klux Klan. I discover the Civil War still divides me from some of my fellow Americans because as a Northerner, Southerners consider me a "damn Yankee." An outsider and a woman, I feel the oppression of prejudice for the first time.
After escaping to the Hawaiian Islands in 2003, I now reside on the Windward side of Oahu. This novel is very loosely based on some of my experiences in Texas.
I hope you enjoy this fun read, filled with satire and humor...Anne Carey, author.
