About
A collection of texts, with comments and bibliographical references, on racial and antisemitic legislation and ideology in fascist Italy. Includes official racist decrees, articles from the fascist journal "La Difesa della Razza", and texts by fascist ideologists (e.g. Giovanni Preziosi, Paolo Orano, Julius Evola) and important supporters of the regime. The position of the Church is demonstrated in the declaration of Pius XI condemning fascist racist policy, and in an article by Bishop Giovanni Cazzani justifying the anti-Judaic tradition of the Catholic Church. Presents, also, the anti-racist attitude of the Protestant Church in Italy, the evolution of Benedetto Croce's ideas on fascism, and articles and memoirs by Jewish Italian intellectuals concerning the fascist period and the persecution of the Jews.
