Aux événements historiques rapportés, elle en adjoint d'autres qui sont le fruit de son imagination. Un bon livre, mais elle ne réussit pas toujours à prendre ses distances avec ses nombreuses sources. Certaines scènes sont "ralenties" par une abondance de détails "historiques" qui agacent l'amateur de roman. De bonnes pages sur la vie des coureurs de bois, les coutumes iroquoises, etc.
