White Midnight

"Come home to me at once. I am dying."
It had been ten years since Grandfather sent her to America, eight years since his last letter; still, Maija could not ignore his plea. She returned to FInland at once, only to find Grandfather alive and well, but convinced that someone is trying to murder him. Maija questions his reason, until she, too, becomes the victim of a series of sinister "accidents."

The mystery deepens until Midsummer's Eve, the ancient festival celebrated with bonfires and a never-ending flow of food and drink. Traditionally a night of love and pleasure, for Maija it becomes a night of absolute horror.
