State Normal School, Salem, Massachusetts, 1929 Yearbook. What an incredible yearbook. Like Oberlin College in Ohio and other states with an abolitionist background, the State Normal School did not discriminate and valued the diversity of its student population. Salem Normal School, a college started by Horace Mann became Salem Teachers College then Salem State University. This class graduated a few months before The Great Depression, culminating the Roaring Twenties.
