With the Apollo 13 moon mission scheduled to launch on the same day, Billy McBride thought his ninth birthday was going to be the greatest yet. But when he wakes up on the big day, he discovers the Beatles just broke up. Could life get any worse?
Yes. Yes it can. Billy's older brother has been acting strange, Butch, the class bully, makes it his personal goal to torment Billy every chance he gets, and to top it all off, the Apollo space mission goes terribly wrong, endangering the entire crew.
Billy has an escape, though. When life becomes too much to handle, he becomes Captain Apollo, commander of the USS Constellation One--otherwise known as the family clothes dryer.
Evil is afoot in the universe, where he must fight intergalactic hitmen, take on the ruthless gangster Mack the Black, and rescue the beautiful Empress Lucinda from her evil clutches--at least until Billy's mom calls him for dinner.
