About
Autobiographical account of O'Mara's difficult life in early 20th Century Liverpool, living in the slums of Dingle with a violent alcoholic father. Fascinating account of life on the streets then, and the lead up to the First World War. Also we see several of the author's friends die in that war or onboard torpedoed ships. Later, the author, who calls himself Timmy, goes to sea himself and eventually settles in America. Fascinating account of life in the first 20 years of the Century, little written of in such detail elsewhere.
