About
John Thomas' intimate work documents the Sacred Holy Week services of the Orthodox Church. The journey climaxes into the most hopeful day of all Christianity - Easter commonly referred to as "Pascha". Each day of Holy Week captures both the community's prayerful participation and the spirituality of each service as experienced by the faithful worldwide. From the tradition of making crosses out of palms, the somber Bridegroom services, anointing with Holy oil of Unction on Holy Wednesday, the riveting procession of Holy Thursday night, the burial services of Holy (Good) Friday culminating into the glorious resurrection of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In a rare opportunity, John captured the late Archibishop Iakovos in his final Palm Sunday service. As an Orthodox Christian, John Thomas is humbled and grateful to share this inspirational journey with the world as captured through his artistic Godgiven gift.
