A man so out of reach it hurts. Until…..
Patience Barrow comes from a family where nothing ever seems to happen. The most exciting thing in her day to day life is her brother’s stories of his employer - the Duke of York. He seems like a charming, intelligent man. She’s proved correct when she attends a ball hosted by the Duke himself. He’s attractive, kind and an excellent dancer. Even better, he wishes to see her again! It truly seems like the Duke has taken an interest in the nobody that is Patience Barrow.
At least, for a while. Nothing good lasts long. He stops seeing her, doesn’t explain why. Just disappears without a trace. Then there’s her brother, who is reluctant to tell her much of anything about what goes on in the manor. Does he know something she doesn’t?
