About
"The story begins in the hospital with Kathy Woodrough waking up with an accent which she acquired as a result of a stroke. She is diagnosed as having the rare medical condition know as the foreign accent syndrome. In an instant she becomes a "foreigner" in her own land. As a result she has to reinvent herself. At first she is dismayed by sounding like a stranger but in the course of Act One her accent becomes an advantage in the matters of love and friendship. In the Act Two Kathy loses her accent upon a second stroke (medically possible) but now has to fake it. She is guided on her journey by Visnja, a Bosnian refugee and a former actress who is now a hospital janitor. The world of theatre, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and medicine comes together in this hilarious musical romp. The characters are of Canadian, but also of Bosnian, Brazilian, Russian, Saudi, Korean, Vetnamese and Singaporean descent"--Publisher.
