About
Ann has writen a conservatively, charming story centered around Cathy, the daughter of Micheal Brett, an industrialist, land owner , and gold minning baron. Theresa, her mother is of enviable character and class, and is a strong back-bone watching over Micheal and the family, including loyal long-time servants. The family lives in Keepsake, a huge estate in Arizona territory some distance from the nearest town. The Brets are idolised by those near, and equally feared by the political gang of Washington. Cathy is struggling to become a woman, and goes through the torment of trying to understand her enviornment, and the people who visit Keepsake. There is a tragety that changes Cathy's maturity that saddens the reader deeply, but life goes on at Keepsake. There is a deep stage to this book and, although it is clean minded, it is excitingly gripping. A pleasant change from the world .....of today. You will not forget this book.
