Students and lecturers of architecture, interior design and interactive media from Basel and Karlsruhe spent several months in a small French Vosges town of Senones. The result of their close and ongoing examination of Senone's barren post-industrial situation and lack of perspective is a series of pilot projects, practical first steps in the social transformation of an industrially depressed area in the digital age. Their recommendations, presented in this visually attractive publication, address regional- and town-planning issues, and the question of new uses for abandoned buildings and complexes, such as the Abbey of Senones, and provide stimulating proposals of a general relevance for structurally depressed regions.
