Du Perron is ons - behalve als schrijver van Het land van herkomst - overgeleverd als essayist, als polemist, als dwarskont en als kompaan van Ter Braak, maar nauwelijks als dichter. De waardering voor zijn verskunst is nooit heel groot geweest. Zijn verzamelbundel Parlando werd voor het laatst in 1975 door Van Oorschot in het licht gegeven. Wie dit kleine boekje (167 bladzijden, in de antiquariaten nog wel verkrijgbaar) niet in de kast had staan, was aangewezen op Komrij, die maar liefst tien verzen van Du Perron opnam.
