Commotion

Compiled and written by Kristy Beckman, an intern for the Sisterhood Fund out of California, Commotion is a comp zine comprised of articles, interviews, and personal stories of those connected to the Sisterhood Fund project. The Sisterhood Fund is a group that funds young women, who are often recent immigrants or of color, to develop their own projects to change their communities. Queer, trans, and immigrant identifying women share their stories and struggles, and Kristy includes tons of resources for her readers, including the phone numbers and addresses of many groups operating in California that do gender, sexuality, or reproductive rights work. Kristy collects a variety of viewpoints, sharing stories about healthcare, HIV, sexual assault, and sex education. This zine is has a brightly colored glossy collage cover and is primarily typewritten, with some handwriting and hand drawn illustrations, as well as cut and paste clippings.
