About
The aim of the thesis is to analyze personalism applied in bioethics both in its general ethical basis and in its dominant lines and to consider its pros and cons in bioethical practice, bioethical dilemmas and current bioethical debates. In the first chapter the thesis analyzes philosophical personalism, the dignity of human person as the main ethical basis, general contribution of personalism to bioethics and bioethical controversies reflecting on understanding the dignity of human person. The second chapter reflects on personalism in the strict sense and its ethics, as well as its influence on the development of Christian bioethics. The third chapter deals with an analysis of Leuven personalistic bioethics (Louis Janssens) and the fourth chapter with an analysis of thomistic personalistic bioethics (Karol Wojtyła). Realistic personalism, recognizing the objective values and understanding a man - person as a physical-spiritual being, which possess an inherent dignity, autonomy and integrity, tends to a certain goal and should never be used as a commodity, but as a goal and whose own mode of existence is based on relation to others and love as the best way toward contemporary bioethics orientation.
