"Dos lugares deixados, aos lugares chegados"

With the transformations that occurred in Brazilian agriculture from the mid-twentieth century and the new technologies that encouraged monoculture, many Brazilians lost their space in the countryside because they did not have the economic conditions to adapt to the new production methods in force. Encouraged, therefore, by the policy of colonization of "empty areas" that Paraguay presented during this period, small farmers decided to migrate, aiming to find fertile and cheap cultivated land there. For a while life in the neighboring country went smoothly, but problems such as lack of documentation (both land and people), as well as conflicts of interest, drove the return of these migrants. known as brasiguaios. Considering this context of the migratory processes (outbound and return) of Brazilians to Paraguay, we start by discussing how women's history is not recognized and noted by traditional history. In order to achieve the objectives proposed in this research, with the support of the oral history methodology, Brazilian women currently living in the Itamarati settlement, located in the city of Ponta Porã, Mato Grosso do Sul - MS, were interviewed. From the narratives of the life histories of these women, and having gender studies as a category of analysis, thus demonstrate the daily paths traced by them from the decision to migrate to Paraguay until the return and stay in Brazil.
