About
Shaped by the political South American performance art of the 1960s to 1990s, Ramírez-Figueroa has formed his own self-reflective artistic language. Born in Guatemala, he creates his installations and performances from dreams, mythology, and his own family history--never without humor. The exhibition "Two flamingos copulating on a tin roof" is the reason for the first publication about the artist. An interview with the artist, conducted by guest curator Dorothee Mosters, gives an insight into Ramírez-Figueroa's diverse and idiosyncratic artistic practice, and an essay by Andrew Berardini allows the reader to delve into the artist's dreamlike performance worlds.
