De la ceguera a la imagen

"We are facing the first report made in Mexico with regard to the photography of the blind. María Tercero Tovar approaches photography taking into account what the blind teach us: that the role played by the non-ocular in the photographic device is decisive. This is what she notes in this book, through her documentation of the synesthetic nature of the image: the sonority, tactility, plasticity and performativity, beyond its visibility; that is, the integral corporal and cultural life of the icons. The visual world inhabits the blind, also the congenital blind, as much as it inhabits the world. The author documents it in her practical observation of the photography of the blind, that contemplative practice that is a permanent revelation of the image that always exists in blindness, as well as of the perennial blindness that exists in the image.
