About
Indian Land Tenure explores the ethnohistory, geography, and law of tribal lands in seven parts: aboriginal occupancy and territoriality; land cessions and the establishment of reservations; land administration and land utilization; aboriginal title and land claims; title clarificaion and change; tenure and jurisdiction; and land tenure and culture change. An epilogue provides notes toward a comparative approach. There are both bibliographical and cartographical sources and a bibliography of more than one thousand references, plus subject, tribal and geographical indexes.
