**The Standard Homes Company began in 1917 in Detroit, Michigan by A. Gales Johnson. Moved to Toledo in 1918, then Washington, D.C. in 1921, with a southern office in Raleigh, NC. By 1950, the company was called Standard Homes Plan Service, and is still in business today, operated by Johnson's great-grandsons.
