The book takes the reader to the world of castles in Finland and the rest of Europe. Mankind has built forts for thousands of years. Castles have acted as protective walls and dwellings, and with their help the rulers have wanted to show their power. The mighty castles breathe a history that doesn't just consist of walls and towers. The rulers, prisoners, maidens, soldiers, artists and ordinary workers who lived in the castles are part of the story of the castles wherever the colorful and bloody events take place. Although the range of castles is wide, they also have unifying features. The same master builders designed several castles, and the handprint of these masters can also be seen in Finnish castles.
