The greatest love story of all time

Things are good for Fran: it's her thirtieth birthday, she has a Very Posh Job, and her handsome and talented boyfriend, Michael, is escorting her to the Ritz with a bulge the shape of a ring box in his pocket. But something's gone wrong: by the evenings end, Fran is howling in bed with a bottle of cheap brandy and one of Michael's old socks. After wondering why her life has gone down the pan, Fran's failsafe plan is to live like a badger, stalk a stranger called Nellie and cancel her beloved Gin Thursdays in favour of drinking gin every night. But her friends' plan for her is very different and nowhere near as fun. How could eight dates possibly make her feel better?
