Forgery of works of art has always existed. In the 20th century, their production has become a well-developed industry. However, along with the fakes there are frank imitations in good faith and copies crafted without any criminal intent. In the culture of the peoples of Asia and Africa the attitude towards such copies is very different from the European one, and these people often refer to them as well as the originals.
