Monsã

The edition highlights the work of Illustrator and caricaturist Domingos Xavier de Andrade (b. São João del Rei, MG, 1903), better known as "Monsã", one of the pioneers of graphic arts and humor in Belo Horizonte. The book is the outcome of extensive research on the production and artistic career of Monsã, a caricaturist, Illustrator and graphic artist of exceptional talent and distinctive trait that belonged to the generation of artists and intellectuals of Minas Gerais in the 1920's and 1930's who was a precursor of the modernist movement in Belo Horizonte, contributing to the emergence of a new art scene in Minas Gerais.
