While the fury of the wind that had whipped up a massive storm on the Sea of Galilee threatened to engulf the ship and drown all its occupants, Jesus, the Son of God, lay sleeping in the hinder part of the vessel. Being shaken awake by the aggravated and extremely concerned disciples in fear that they were going down, Jesus stood, in absolute control and commanded, “Silence, be Muzzled!” Immediately there was a great calm. Why did Jesus use the word, muzzle? It means to close the mouth with a muzzle, to make speechless, to silence. It also has the connotation to be kept in check. Jesus gagged the violence with a muzzle!
